List of sites in France rather like UK Cls

Would the moderators and community manager be interested in a Sticky in this section where members can add to a list of sites similar to CLs  they have found in France?

I can start the hall rolling with a few that we ourselves found at different times - but being French they are not restricted to members only and not rigidly limited to five outfits as CLs are -  just informal, rural, privately owned sites where it would be surprising to find more than a handful of others there.

I will wait and hear whether the moderators think the idea is worth pursuing

I think it's a good idea.  I'm in several other groups where people are looking for quiet sites, like CLs, and whilst we have found one or two gems in one particular area which I can recommend, I am sure there must be many others around.

I would add that sites which we have found have always had toilets and showers, and waste facilities, but we've also found a tiny site with a swimming pool, and another with an excellent 'restaurant' - actually a beautifully cooked meal, shared with the site owner and his family.

Le Relais des Garennes at Montbert  (Loire Atlantique) - about 15 miles south of Nantes.
A nicely landscaped garden, woodland and grassland site - 6 pitches..Decent facilities. French owners. Well established so likely that members know of it already.  . Open June to Septemberi inclusive... Details, prices and photos on line.

Le Grange de Campaulise, near Mazan (Vaucluse)  - about 12 miles east of Carpentras.
6 pitches in front of a rather grand farmhouse - some way from the village but bread delivered and garden produce available. Modern purpose built toilets, showers and swimming pool - of which we had exclusive private access for a few days till someone else turned up. Downside was the heat in midsummer and lack of shade. Has a website with info.

Camping le Pesquie near Eygalieres (Bouches du Rhône)

10 pitches so a bit big for a CL, but they are scattered in garden, verges and orchard behind the big  house.- there was just one other outfit with us in the orchard - fruit trees and tall cypresses - but the tree house and the wooden tent were empty.

Madame Perret has help these days to keep the place tidy, serve drinks, and  put hand lotion and cosmetics in the homely shower block. Her choir was giving a concert and she invited us to go. Not a commercial site!

Farm camping in the Ardeche - Graverolle - St Alban Auriolles.  Site with pool.  Sanitary block with 3 showers with hot water, 2 toilets, 1 urinal, 2 sinks, 2 cubicle sinks, 1 washing machine, 1 laundry sink. Electric hook-ups. The little vaulted shop sells farm produce and local wines.  Three mobile homes have been added to the site since we were there.  Boulangerie and small supermarket nearby.

Actually it now has 25 pitches, in an orchard, so too big to qualify but still worth recommending in an area full of huge commercial sites.

Just remembered another small site we stayed at just south east of St.Remy de Provence at the foothills of Les Alpilles. From recollection there was room for about 10-12 pitches. Excellent simple base for walking, cycling and birdwatching.
