OK, let's take a walk in the woods: SWMBO and I go touring in France for three months, or maybe more if times are good. She is late fifties, I am mid-sixties. We have no health problems BUT, after being in France for 10 weeks, I start to feel a bit unwell. After another week, I feel bad.

I go to a doctor close to the site municipal we are inhabiting and he says my condition is dire and I need some hospital level help.

So - I've looked at what possibilities there are for dealing with this possible scenario and all I can find is a lot of hype and expensive insurance premiums.
