I can only speak as I find. Having done my prior research regarding sites, ferries etc the whole process took me about 10 mins. This included relaying certain info  to SHMBO who was upstairs at the time. Process carried out on my desk top using the latest Windows system. My only gripe is not being able to purchase Red Pennant until the new year, but this is an insurance problem not booking.

I'm pleased the system worked well for you.  You said you used a laptop, I'm using an Android tablet; that's why I suspect there may be a problem depending on what you use.  Which of course there shouldn't be, if that is indeed the case.  It may not be of course, I'm only speculating.

The quotes I got earlier worked fairly well, although I wasn't looking for sites, but wanted to add vouchers; that does still take a number of "clickings" on the map before it shows up.  It was when I returned an hour ago for another try, that I was then unable to input height of car.

After following this thread for a few weeks now I decided that it was time I gave the new booking system a try.

I searched for a ferry from Hull to Zeebrugge out at the end of April Return mid June.

I got  the ferry price I was looking for but on that day only no other dates given.

I got a choice of other crossings which was useful in that the Hull to Rotterdam was cheaper (first time that's been the case) the other 2 suggested crossings were not of interest to me.

I clicked on the combined fare, but when checking the basket nothing had been added and I couldn't see where you could add vouchers.

First time of using it, not impressed nowhere near as useful or user friendly as the old booking site, so I have to agree with everyone else WHY tamper with something when it works, for something that is not fit for purpose.yell

EDIT: I've just gone back into the system and tried a booking for Hull - Zeebrugge under the old system ie next month, it took all of 2 minutes to do, I got 9 choices of crossings all from Hull - Zeebrugge (as requested) no other suggested routes (that's fine I didn't ask for them) vouchers were easy to add and subtract if no benefit. Oh and under the new booking system my vehicle details were wrong.

Wow this is great fun.

Just done another search for a ferry from Portsmouth to Caen, and it returned a ferry from Newhaven to Dieppe saying there are no crossings for the route I'd selected.

Unbelievable, I know the route and times are available as I checked on the BF site first.

That's what many members are trying to. Make their own booking arrangements as they've down many times in years past with the old on line system.

Now we have a new system and it's impossible

I meant travel arrangements direct without involving the club wink

Was anybody aware of the changes to deposits?

I booked a Bilbao crossing some months ago  and not only was it £50 less than today but the deposit was as it has been for many years £75 , today £158.50

Posted on 29/11/2019 17:41

No David I wasn't aware of it. Thankfully like you I've booked my crossing for April using the BF code of a friend. A much better experience than what is on offer from the club at the moment.

I am really sorry for all members experiencing problems, it must be very frustrating and annoying. I am now thinking, was I just lucky, but it really was straightforward and easy for me. Which ever way it is, there is clearly a massive problem which needs sorting out. May I wish everyone good luck and happy holidays in 2020.
