The cost of Continental touring

The Caravan Club is reportedly the largest club of its kind inEurope. ACSI, a Dutch club, has negotiated considerable off peak discounts, as much as 50 percent, at over 2000 campsites throughout the Continent, including theUK. You can purchase a discount card from them or subscribe to their service and in my view this is the best way of touring the continent in the off peak season. With Tescos vouchers I can cross the channel very cheaply and with the ACSI card, Aires and Stellplatz I can camp cheaply. Currently I only buy Red Pennant insurance from the club but even that is looking under threat from the German club ADAC who will offer a breakdown and repatriation service to UK residents.

So, do you think the Club is falling behind in what it can offer members who want to tour the Continent?

With all the clout the Club should have, by virtue of its size, why can it also not offer a similar Continental site discount scheme to members?
