Amenity blocks closed until 17th May

Anyone realised this. I just don't get it. Why can pubs open their shared toilets for outdoor diners / drinkers,  motorway services shared toilets never been closed, but caravan & camping sites can open 12th April but can't open their amenities until 17th May. And I would bet that most site toilets are far more hygienic and cleaned more often than pubs and motorway services. Bonkers.

Moderator Comment - I think this thread has run its course now. When the off topic posts outnumber the on topic ones it is time to close.

He’s the perfect person to contact about such a dilemma. Just check which persona he is using first though........🤔

To paraphrase.....”I love the smell of [elections] in the morning”😂

That at the moment is a bit of "blue sky thinking?" he would do better taking notice of what it seems many experts are saying and cancel HS2  which would give plenty of money back into the coffersundecided

"blue sky thinking?"  Not deep water dreaming then? laughing

One could similarly ask why people who “pay a fortune” for these facilities in their outfit do not stay exclusively on non-facility sites?

A&J if you are talking about CAMC non facility sites then the answer is easy. They keep closing them and don't bother replacing them plus they are few and far between. Happy to use them when they are available in the area I want to visit.

However, I am happy to continue to use the CL sites with or without such facilities. Many of us do.

Last year I used 1 CAMC site and 1 Independent and used our own facilities.

In a normal year I would say each to their own but in the case of reducing possible transmission of this virus then using one's own facilities is not a hardship if only until we return to some form of normality.

Yes, I posted on the thread 'When can we use our Vehicles' on 2nd March highlighting the inconsistencies....

I'm happy using onboard facilities, however using shower blocks does save the need to visit MSP to refill & offload waste water during a stay.

It is funny that at the start of this COVID pandemic we were told that Coronaviruses don't like 'soap & water' & I was therefore happy to use shower block facilities on site with their 'reduced' usage capacity.....

Now, that doesn't seem to apply undecided

Just received this from one of our booked sites.

Greetings from REDACTED.

As you are probably aware, the government have recently announced their COVID-19 ‘roadmap’ which gives us a provisional opening date of 12th April 2021.  Although we’re able to welcome campers from this date, sadly we won’t be able to open any shared facilities (showers, toilets, washing-up areas, etc.) until at least 17th May  Again, this is only a provisional date as set out in the roadmap.

Because you’re booked to stay with us during this period, we are reaching out to enquire as to whether you have your own facilities and can self-contain in your unit.  If this is the case and you are still happy to visit us for your current dates, please respond to this email or call our office on the number below to let us know you're still coming.

If you do not have your own facilities, we will instead look to move your booking to another date after 17th May when (government permitting) our facilities will re-open.  To get your booking moved, again please respond to this email or call our office on the number below.

Please note:

We are already extremely busy for the May half term and school summer holidays so if you need to move your booking, it is unlikely we’ll be able to accommodate you during these periods.  If you aren’t able to visit us during term-time, we can instead move your booking to our 2022 season.

We look forward to hearing from you soon.

Kind regards

Personal, helpful and pleasant.

I'm probably on my own here but my ideal site would be one with no facilities but with fully serviced pitches. Why doesn't the club have any? they would be much cheaper to build and run. One alternative is to make use of facility blocks chargeable in the same way that having a water supply and a drain on pitches is chargeable. Not that it will ever happen of course.

Ernie There are quite a few CLs that do exactly that.  I don't know if you use CLs at all but we have stayed on a few, some excellent, some not taking the word "fully" to its maxim.

Might be worth checking out the "Sticky" under the CL section of this forum for Serviced pitches CLs. Just make sure they are H/S if that is a requirement.

Have you ever seen anyone smoking or "vaping" in an enclosed area?  If you have just imagine that cloud of smoke or vapour as a SARS COV 2 virus bearing aerosol.  If you can smell it then you have breathed it in.
