Just spent a week at this lovely site, unfortunately the stay was totally spoilt by the number of dogs constantly barking. The dog owners seem oblivion to the noise their 'pets' are causing. Please you owners make the effort to control your animals so the rest of us can enjoy our stay!

Don't think dog nuisance is restricted to Ayr Cragie Gardens Merlin.  It seems to be a problem  across the whole CMC network as reported on posts on this forum.

True we have only been using club sites for 13 years, but not a phenomenon we have come across. Perhaps the odd one that can't keep quiet, although you could say the same about some of the human occupants.😉

We are not and never have been dog owners, so no bias.

+1

We've been member for 19 and have visited many sites, (recently and not in any form of exilewink) and no problems, constantly barking really? A bit OTT? you were there all the time? Also what is constant to you may not be to others?

If you go to sites that allow dogs then you can't expect them not to bark, it's all part of site life during the day and you can't expect absolute quiet. Of course if it carries on during the night then that's another matter, but unless I sleep with windows open I can't hear anything outside my van.

Maybe you were unlucky or just a bit noise intolerant, Merlin? None of the other recent reviews mention it as a problem.

We've never stayed at Ayr so I don't know if it's a specific problem there, but I can't say I've ever had a holiday on a club site ruined by "constant" barking. Of course, it only takes one and I can imagine how irritating it would be. Having said that, I don't think it can be any more of a problem on club sites than anywhere else.

What do you do at home if you hear constant barking? I ask because, certainly for us, we notice it far more at home than on any type of site we've stayed on.

There is a small note in the new magazine about dogs. They have reduced the length of lead allowed from 3 to 2 metres whilst on site, although this does not apply to dog walks. They also mention that owners of dogs should be conscious of their dogs barking which can be an annoyance to other members. I wonder if this has come about from replies to the campsite questionnaires?

Having said that I don't recall a problem with barking dogs but if I did I would hope that owners would attend to the issue.

I personally think our site staff have enough on their plate without chasing up irresponsible dog owners. Non members use this site, so perhaps this is the problem? Or the lack of respect for other people which is norm in our Society today!
