Apparently all the Camping in the Forest sites are currently up for grabs, their leases have/are coming to an end! Wonder which organisation will takes these on? They do have some cracking locations!

Yes, a New Director General took over in 2019 and has re-structured the management team. But there are some who do not think that things are being swept in the right direction. It depends to whom you speak I suppose. I know a number of people, friends and acquaintances made through the travel service (including staff), who are not very happy with things and feel, to continue the broom analogy, that a lot of dust was swept behind the door.

I regret the demise of the travel service very much. The former head of the service had built up an excellent programme - particularly the winter sun sites and the worldwide motorhome hire facility. The travel insurance was good too. Nothing meets our needs quite like it.

There is disquiet expressed on the C&CC Forum about loss of some sites, of franchise sites and the Forest sites.

It's all change: some of it needed no doubt; some, people question.

There will be those for and those against and only time will tell who was right. Oh, for a crystal ball!

Don’t forget, too, there will always be some folk who are anti change in any walk of life.

Change has always happened. I recall the furore when electric bollards were installed😁So caravanning as we knew it changed forever in the 1990’s………

I suspect cost might  have something to do with it. If we were at home given the good weather we might be looking. The nearest site to us with availability was a mere 40 miles away but only had service pitches free. Cost for two nights inc fuel £100. Although we could afford it I would be thinking twice just for a weekend.

Some describe these changes in the C&CC  as progress, to me they are cuts and  the only reason  I joined was to use thier well regarded foreign touring service When they panicked and sacked experienced staff I saw no reason to remain a member. They have nothing I need that the CAMC  cant supply so that's progressundecided

Here's the statement released in March this year concerning the future of Camping in the Forest. LINK During 2022 the C& CC will still be involved.
