I know not all of you get the regular emails from the Club but I thought I would post a link to the refurbishment of Cayton Village near Scarborough. There are a couple of videos as well. See Link here. We enjoyed our stay there last year although we had some misgivings. However the upgrade looks to address most of those issues.

and of course an easy ride into Hull (City of Culture) ...pity about the RSPB withdrawing their affiliation with the club....Bempton Cliffs cafe will suffer.

Looking at online footpath info from Yorkshire County Council there is a public right of way from the RSPB car park to the Cliff footpath

There is, also along the coast. I think the charge is for parking and access to the visitors centre, plus viewing platforms.

There is no longer a car park charge I believe Steve.

We joined RSPB a number of years ago as we felt that they disserved our cash. We pay £60 a year and probably visit no more than 4 or 5 sites but we were happy to join.

There is definitely no charge to park at Bempton Cliffs , there was also some motorhome parking spaces .

We use a nice CL three quarters of a mile from RSPB Bempton. Probably too basic for most folks, but it’s usually popular, with MH’s as well. Has two HS areas. No facilities, but good for dogs, easy (uphill) stroll to cliffs. Train line is couple of hundred metres away, goes from Hull up to Scarborough I think, with stops elsewhere including Brid. Have they turned your MH away Steve? We use car park regular with our MH, and we have seen coaches in there, so a bit puzzling? It does of course get busy at breeding season.

Anyone thinking of Brid area, but needing very good facilities, try this one. Grass, but never cuts up, sandy base. https://www.thorpehall.co.uk/#About

Lovely area, easy ride into Brid. We like the area around Bridlington, but not the town. Scarborough town is much nicer, but challenging in terms of the hills! I know, I have pushed my Dad, and now my Mum up and down most of them!😁

I had a look at the rspb web site about parking at Bempton Cliffs, they say there is limited space for larger vehicles and they can't guarantee spaces for large motorhomes that may need two spaces to park (there is an overnight parking ban for M/Hs.) LINK

When we went to Cayton we walked to the beach which took about 20 mins. We went to the northern access point and found there is a sudden end to the road due to erosion so you need to be quite agile to climb off the end of the road and go onto the beach. The southern approach is easier! The cliff erosions are quite severe so take care, I was hoping to do a bit of fossil searching but had to give that a miss. smile

We booked at this site last year was awful. The first pitch was 10amp with no disabled toilet The  laurels had a disabled toilet but was more expensive also had 16amp but the pitch was so narrow you couldn't erect the awning. Stayed 2 days and left vowing never to go back.

I think that would have been before the over £7 million pounds the club have spent to bring it up to the standard  most cc members have come to appreciatesurprised
