Club Sites too expensive?

There was a lot of debate last year about club sites becoming too expensive. So I thought our experience at the start of this year would be interesting.

We have been away to two club sites on the last two weekends. 2 adults, 2 dogs, hardstanding and EHU -

Hunter's Moon £15.90 per night, Broadway £16.60 per night. On both occasions we rang to ask if we could arrive any earlier than midday and on both occasions this would was OK. We could also have stayed later on our last day if we'd wanted to.

We wanted to go to Somerset for a weekend. Cheddar site is closed so we got in touch with The Old Oaks at Glastonbury. The price would have been £25.65 per night for the same facilities as the club sites. Earliest arrival time ? 1 pm! Stay late, yes but you have to pay half a day's fee.

Now don't get me wrong. I've got nothing against The Old Oaks - it's a well run site with great facilities and a marvellous location; we've used it many times in the past. But at those prices we'll wait until Cheddar is open.

I think we have always found that, on the whole for like for like facilities, club sites compare very favourably to comercial sites.
