Firstly I apologise for starting a new thread on this subject yet again as it seem so have taken enough space already.

Before I make my suggestion I should point out that I'm against deposits as I have stated in other threads. So here goes.........

In an attempt to resolve this issue may I suggest that the CC consider trying a trial run of taking deposits on say 10 of the most popular sites for pre booking - in the north say Chatsworth and Rowntree Park - and see what effects if any it has on the number of bookings, forfeited deposits, timing of cancellations etc.

I would propose a deposit of say 50% of the total booking cost for three nights or less and 30% for longer bookings. Refund of deposit only if pitch cancelled within 10 days of arrival. The trial to last for 12 months starting with the release of 2014 dates in December 2013.

I think we need to have some hard facts on what members reaction/change of habits would be if any so a decision can be made one way or the other and put this issue to bed at least for the next few years.

Tin hat on!!!
