Discounts on club touring sites

Hi. It’s my first post and I’m about to make myself unpopular I think. Am I alone in thinking that the discount offer on club sites isn’t really a discount at all. I recently made enquiries about staying at a site in the Lake District. It is apparently impossible to book a touring pitch on this site other than through the club. Two nights on a standard hard standing pitch cane to £82 at which point the club “discount” kicks in bringing the total to £58. But I have to ask how many sites out there charge £29 a night for two people. In the end we stayed on the east coast for £17 a night.

Ive has discussions with the club admin about why club sites are so expensive. The answer I received is that the club don’t think that they are. I honestly think that the whole £12 a night club discount offer is not what it appears at all.

Why the need to keep calling some folk “a bit delicate of constitution” just because they state their views, BB?

I could just as easily say some are obtuse in not fully appreciating what is on offer but I wouldn’t because that would be rude even if I littered it with smileys.

no you can't see a lake but I remember the Quiet site as not being that good for lake views.

At The Quiet Site, a very similar view. Car-park, gravel, hill, but with a glimpse of water in between. (Not the best picture as taken for a different purpose.)

Damn hills always getting into the views. As we say in Scotland, "What can you see when you get to the top of that hill?    Just another hill!"

[ Don't go away! I'll add the picture later as I don't have any time right now to faff about making a copy of it under 500kB to suit the rules ]

you missed the point....(despite adding the bit at the end about the smileyswink)....i wasnt referring to those who state different views....

however, some seem to be 'a bit delicate of constitution' as they see rudeness (where non exists) in far too many posts on CT...i sometimes wonder how they survive in the real world...if they are so easily offended.

if you wish, you may feel free to say that some are 'obtuse in not appreciating whats on offer'....but if you said it to me, i wouldn't suggest you had been rude, merely discussing the subject.

and rudeness is subjective....some (those with a delicate constitution, perhaps) have a far lesser rudeness threashold than others.

if i wanted to be rude, there would be little doubt, but i am not rude on CT, that would be a breach of the T/C as you would no doubt point out.

but its strange that ive only seen three posters on CT ever complain about others being rude (or hurt/upset/insulted etc).

no prizes for guessing who the other two arewink (smiley added to match yours)

sadly TW I think it is because it is far easier to have a go at a poster than argue rationally at the points that they make?

Think I've been  on CT for 6/7 years and to be honest I've heard it all before, not once but numerous times and to be honest its like a stuck record. If you don't want to pay for what the club offers there are other options available

We go where we want to and pay the price thats ask.  If we don't like it we go somewhere else.  Last weekend we stayed at the clubs Rookesbury Park and it was just perfect for us
