Early arrivals and late departures

There often seems to be a bit of a rush at arrival time by members who are keen to bag a good pitch, and they can get miffed if one they liked was occupied by someone leaving later. I don’t think we should have a system that encourages people to arrive en masse, especially if they do so for the purpose of grabbing a prime spot.

I’d suggest that members wishing to stay beyond noon could do so, at the warden’s discretion, for a fee that is sufficient to appease those disturbed by their continued presence. If someone arrived and wanted an occupied pitch they could wait until it was vacated, otherwise choose from those which are available. The warden’s task would be to ensure that there is at least one available pitch for each of those arriving.

Maybe we should be looking at a similar approach (charges) where a warden is able to permit an early arrival.
