Hi, I am just wondering if anyone has stayed at the the grantown-on-spey site and what they think of it. Any tips and advice would be appreciated. Thanks

There are several sites that I would not choose to be on at a summer weekend.

We had a similar experience to Solobay when we visited in June last year. Had three very pleasant and peaceful days, then Friday evening came. We were in the gold area on pitch 18. We had several children on bikes riding along the top of the raised banks as an off road course. When politely asked not to do so, they told their fathers who promptly got their bikes and did the same. We again asked them not to do so as if they lost control they could have caused a lot of damage to our car and caravan. We were then subjected to nasty comments, stares and jeers every time we were seen by these families. There were several groups nearby who were away for drinking/partying weekend which continued very late into the evening. The wardens advised us it was not the policy to confront anyone causing a problem. We will stay there again but never at a weekend.

Yip owners really need to put in some strategic fences to stop the raised banks being a play ground

We got the stares etc but being over 6ft and a big lad they didn't come near us!!

By contrast we had a couple of vans with kids playing water balloons - great fun and the parents had them pick up every single bit of the exploded balloons before the next battle commenced

"The wardens advised us it was not the policy to confront anyone causing a problem". - not what you want to hear from wardens that are ment to be looking after the site IMHO!!

If wardens are not able to confront trouble makers and enforce the rules then what the hell is going on with the Club management?!   Completely unnacceptable.

The wardens are not CAMC wardens as it’s an Affiliated site.

As an alternative and apart from the C & Cc site at Loch Morlich the Rothhiemurcus Estate site is pleasant and is within walking distance of Aviemore. Lovely estate walks too.

Thank you all for your replies, it seems that while it is a nice site, good facilities, it is not a quite site.  Will not be using this site and will be looking else where. Thanks

Thanks for the advice Solobay, have you tried it yourself?

Not since it has been revamped as it only opened last week - but I have stayed on it before - in a walled garden about mile off main road so very quiet, even has red squirrels. Aberlour has CoOp, couple pubs, deli's and restuarants.

Site was taken over just before we arrived and the new owners basically rebuilt all the facilities, Showers, even underfloor heating - new office, play area for kids and heavy duty pruning of hedges etc

Friendly with a guy who is there several times a year and even got a sneaky weekend before it opened.

Central for the Speyside malt distilleries, plus plenty other places an easy day drive.
