Groundsheets

I am aware that several independent campsites are not allowing groundsheets or mats on grass pitches or even the grass fingers around hard-standing pitches.

Grass pitches used for more than a week with groundsheets that are not lifted frequently will disable that pitch for a few weeks allowing enough rest time to recover. Site staff do not have the time to check every awning daily but rely on guests to do the right thing. Sadly, pitches are lost daily across the network.

The other side of the coin would mean more pitches would be available if groundsheets were barred on club sites.

I am neither for or against this. It just a case to raise the issue and see what your thoughts are?

Pitching:

Please park your (unit) caravan/motorhome/tent in the middle of your allocated pitch.
DO NOT PARK SIDE-ON YOUR PITCH.
Pitches are available from 1:00pm
Day of departure please vacate your pitch by 11.00am.
We do not have fully service pitches
Groundsheets / mats are not permitted on the grass pitches

I’m thinking life was way more simpler back then👍🏻, no advice needed just a ball of twine a set of 3 hammers & a moist mouth👏🏻👏🏻

It is not that far back., when campers would help others ,especially those new to the lifestyle, but now it is rare ,although there is now more curtain twitching ,if the television is not on,

I am talking about when it was quite common to help others instead of the trend now as I posted curtain twitch rather than assist  or give advise if a long timer

They still do JVB and you'll find ralliers form quite a big group of CAMC still gathering in the old tradition which originally formed CAMC.

The groundsheet debate has been going on for a long time too, there doesn't appear to be a solution except to hope that if people can manage without them on grass it will help keep pitches open and in better condition.

JV, I’m(personally) talking about 2012 for me which is but a decade ago I didn’t even know how the power cord fitted into the bollard🤷🏻‍♂️, but some folk noticed a noob from a distance. By the time I was done I had a crowd & an invite to a geordies BBQ, & no I hadn’t even considered an awning or a groundsheet then👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻

I recently discovered a flat tyre on the van as we were about to leave for a big run. A neighbour with whom we hadn't  exchanged more than pleasantries in the previous  6 weeks saw us struggling to get the van high enough to extract  the spare,he came with a better jack and tools and more or less took the job off me. It still happens and more often than you might think.

......indeed it does and on club sites too👍.

You and me both cool I have lost count of the times after we were advised many moons ago that on the cc site bollards now being replaced you had to turn the plug to the. right to get power'

And many of the latest bollards now you need to reset the trips to get power as they trip when removing your  plug
