Is it time for metered pitch electricity?

It would appear from chat on other forums some site owners, especially the smaller ones, have been busy over the winter putting in metering. The practice of metering is obviously on the increase, justifiably in my opinion. Energy costs continue to rise while metering cost seem to be falling. If metering is not introduced, I can only see the cost of pitches rising further because conventional energy costs are not going to fall and the Club has no choice but to keep passing the increase on to members.

In >this thread< about saving energy I asked:

"Should the club not be doing it’s bit by offering at least a few discounted electricity free pitches on each site for those that are increasing prepared to go that extra mile and fit solar panels?"

So as an alternative, should the Club start to introduce metering?

My view is a definite yes not only because it would give the individual more control over nightly cost but I am certain it would contribute greatly to energy saving.

I would be interested in not only hearing members' views but also the Club's.
