Is it time to extend the quiet period to 8 am?

I like a good sleep but it would appear many of my fellow campers like to be out of their caravan or motorhome doors bang on 7 am usually with a loud clatter of the door as well.

Pulling and tugging and cursing at awnings as they decamp, finally to retreat back into their vans for a couple of hours before departure.

Would it be too much to ask for the quiet period to extend on site to 8am,.

+1

When this thread started I made a bet with myself that sooner or later a post would be made that abroad sites are far better in this respect than club sites and lo and be hold I was right. It would appear that even silence is (far more) golden over there.

But in reality I've found campsites in Italy far far more nosier than in the UK and certainly much later into the night as well with people sitting outside their outfits.

As said it's all about consideration and club sites are a a haven of peace and quiet compared to those..

  • This isn't the first time you have complained about Italian  campsites .If you post in the appropriate  section ie  Overseas Touring I am sure one of the resident Italy experts can advise how to find civilised sites  in fact although I have not been enough times to be classed as expert I have had several  good trips there and could suggest sites in Tuscany and Umbria

I dont think it's a complaint, David, but to repeat your earlier words to me "just comparing two different environments" and certainly not seeking site recommendations.

Sorry David and a good try I admit but I have not complained in this thread or ever about Italian campsites, if you read my post carefully all I did was say say they are nosier by comparison to club sites but that was not a complaint. And really the irony of your post is amazing. Why you keep trying to bring in abroad sites at every possible opportunity is puzzling. I'll keep this oT from now on and not playing your games.

Can I please request that conversations about overseas sites are kept to the overseas section of the forum. We love your feedback and appreciate your comments but please make sure these are posted in the relevant area. Many thanks. smile

Yes, it IS too much. It’s an active holiday venue, not a geriatric retirement home.

I disagree with this (as covered in more detail in my post above on page 5). In my view background or ambient noise does not give people the excuse to make excessive noise. Moreover, having stayed at Gatwick three times, a site I used to really enjoy until the buses from outside were withdrawn, I can assure you that I would be very much aware of campers with their TV on full or rolling a waste master from very early.

But, in fairness, I do accept that, my tolerance of noise is perhaps different to many. Noise that no one has control over does not tend to bother me. But noise created by people who should be showing more respect and consideration drives me to distraction. I guess I am just different!! embarassed

I don’t believe I said it did. However, there is no denying it does have a masking effect. I quite liked Gatwick as well, however I was hard pressed to hear our own TV, let alone one inside a caravan over 6 metres away and my hearing is very good.

It is the rumble of empty. Waste containers that tend make the noise ,by those who do realise they are quiet if carried back from the waste water point

Me and the wife enjoy the brisk workout of the race to and from the filling points with the wheeled water and waste containers.

I am pondering how anyone could rationally choose Gatwick or Seaview for a peaceful holiday. I once watched a full episode of Coronation Street on a stationary train alongside Seaview I was that close to someone’s van🤣

It’s perfectly possible to have a peaceful holiday in the UK, just as it is elsewhere. The unknown factor, here and everywhere else is the simple fact that you don’t know who else will be on your site. Only a fool would think otherwise.😉
