We went to a wedding yesterday in Farnham which is on the A31. On the way back this morning I stopped off at Morn Hill to see how things were proceeding. I could only see the first section and it looks as if some of the buildings are almost complete and the hardstanding pitches are in place. Below are a couple of pictures taken from the entrance. Couldn't see what was happening on the upper section. We have booked a stay in September so hope its finished by then!

To checkout pitch types see >this page<

I suppose just for a one night stopover it's not so crucial where you stay?

Exactly David, you would at least expect the ferry pitches to be more competively priced for one nighters. I too have family not far from the site and I might use it in the off season. On previous visits I have used the Body Farm CL. I will probably try one of the other CLs in the area for the one nighter and a change.

It looks like the web pages on re-developments and the site were updated late yesterday and the site is now going to open on 15th August.

Why would you? Why should those using a ferry, or just wanting a one nighter, expect cheaper and/or subsidised pitches on a club site? Pay your own full way PD?

And are there really actual pitches labelled/designed as ferry pitches on this site?

Thanks every days a learning day! though for someone who says they are not interested in club sites and vote with your wheels you sure know your way aroundsmile

I'm sure w1959 will be happy too.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction for the pitch descriptions. Interestingly the premium pitch is not yet listed as a choice on the app, perhaps given its rating on Google play that shouldn't be a surprise.

Not that i intend to book such a pitch but just interested in the clubs possible future intentions.

They used to keep some near the exit. barrier  on the top site for one night stopover and early departures bone that I remember being designated as "ferry pitches" but as you say why a cheaper price?

That is because I suspect I make more effort than most to see what is available and the alternatives.

Your suspicion could well be correct, or notsmile

Although why you should be looking at premium and super pitches when you say normal pitches are too expensive (yet you use them quite a lot) is one of life's great mysteries.

And there was I gently pointing out the obvious without a dig!

Members may only briefly use a ferry pitch, arrive late, leave early and may not even need electric for a short visit. Ferry pitches need not be to the same standard as other pitches, e.g they could be a small area of hard standing, non awning and therefore cheaper to build.

There you go again Corners, just because I was trying to be helpful.

No need PD for that, I'm simply stating a fact as supplied by you.

And yes ferry pitches do exist as I had to find out for myself undecided but again why would you expect them to be cheaper for you personally just because you are only using them for one night?

As far as I can see they are not any different than other pitches (are they) and perhaps as JVB says they might be nearer to the exit I can't see how or why they should be cheaper? Will they use any less of the facilities/showers/hot water or are they non EHU? I personally don't think so and usage would be automatically less?

A lot of mays and/or coulds there PD, and cheaper? So just because someone may do something it should be cheaper,? As I said it's not automatic at all and really all those things could be said of other pitches too? What about showers and toilets?
