I haven't seen any confirmation or otherwise regarding this but have just read it on Faceache with a date of 25th June being, allegedly, given by a member of site staff for implementation.

UP TO DATE INFORMATION ON BOOKINGS

We are normally able to book for next June from today.
However this isn’t possible as the website is moving over to deposits in the next couple of weeks.
So at this time we cannot book anything for next June until the system is live.

Just on the matter of arrival times - we made a rare visit to a Club site a couple of months ago.

Arrived at 11.30 am, there were a couple of outfits already in the queue. The staff made us wait about 15 minutes, to make some sort of point. Then we went in and got pitched up in time for lunch - just as we like it.

Nobody was harmed by this. Nobody missed out on anything. But it was rather annoying to see some people leave late and thus deprive the new arrivals of their full choice of pitches, which was very rude. If people want to criticise or insult fellow members, perhaps they should re-direct their attention to those selfish people.

You just did ‘insult fellow members’ for leaving late when you arrived early🙄🤔

Well I'm no longer a member so obviously can't be accused of insulting "fellow members" but it strikes me as slightly irrational to imply praise of wardens for allowing (very) early arrivals whilst at the same time condemning them for letting others leave late.

Both are against "the rules" so surely equally "selfish" (if that derogatory word must be used). undecided

(Still, luckily for us, we can arrive and depart 24/7 where we spend most time!) smile

This thread is entitled New Booking System with Deposits. I know threads move around, but going back to its original purpose: I was sorting out some old correspondence and discovered a UK Advance Bookings Confirmation from the Caravan Club dated 1999! (goodness knows why i still had it). It showed 2 advanced bookings, one for 12 nights and one for 8 nights. For each booking we had paid  £5 deposit.  In the small print it informs that deposits cannot be refunded under any circumstances, only deducted from site fees. It goes on to say "where you have applied to stay at a number of sites and one is not available, the deposit for that site is automatically allocated to a booked site."

I have absolutely no memory of paying deposits, but obviously we did. It also sounds as if you paid the deposit before site confirmation!

This was certainly in the days before electronic booking. (how did we manage).

The full cost isnt indicated so I dont know what % of fees the deposit was. I am sure someone can tell me what £5 equals in todays values.

My booking said Arrival 12.00 to 14.00. 6 outfits turned up at 12.30 to 12.45 all were told to go away. Is not good enough, I did not turn up early, the Club changed it and didn't let anybody know!

New website. Not user friendly, too much information require ie. wife's name, car make, length and width. two hours to get on. Get it sorted please.

100% support for the site managers
All sites should do the same . no excuse for being at the most, ten minutes early

We haven’t attempted to make a booking yet.

I am sure the government Information Commissioner (data protection) would be interested to hear that the Club is collecting names and dates of birth unnecessarily.  I am sure that must be against the law.

just knowing whether to charge adult or child is sufficient for the Club’s needs for a UK campsite.

If you are a member the Club already have that information, and to become a member you have to give consent for them to hold that information, so as long as that do not misuse that information, the club is complying with data protection laws
You do not have to give it if you do not wish, that is your choice at the time off booking

I don’t think you can proceed without completion. Although of course it does not have to be accurate.

As i posted the chice is yours
The act is  data  protection, not what you can ask law

The law does not stop companies etc asking what they want .it makes it legal not to protect that information

Thanks for the comments and I hold my hands up if I’m wrong.

we have a relative who works for the Information Commissioner and I’m sure she said that holding unnecessary information is not allowed.

The dates of birth of your extra guests, is surely irrelevant, all the club need is ‘adult or child’.

But, as I say, other members probably know more than me if they are in a job that involves data collection.
