Outstanding New Motorway Services!

Had to visit some friends in Highnam Nr Gloucester yesterday and as we were passing close by I decided to make a visit to the new Motorway Services just opened close to junction 11a on the M5.

I have to say that they were outstanding in every respect!  In the first instance they are very unusual visually, - having been built into a what I can best describe as a "Telly Tubby Grass mound"  Yes that's right the entire services building is below a sweeping grass covered roof and I would imagine from the far side of the building or from above, it must be almost invisible.  Inside it is very open plan, the Restaurant and shop selling almost only local produce and beautifully displayed.  I can best describe the whole atmosphere as being very like those other great services on the M6 in Cumberland.  So it came as little surprise when I came to pay for my goods to find them being packed in a TEBAY shopping bag!  Yes it is the same company!

Outside the car parks are well laid out and the Caravan area looks very good!

My comments are about the Northbound side but I suspect will apply equally to the Southbound side too..

Highly recommended.  I hope that others can take a leaf out of that book!
