We have to take our caravan down to the dealers in Preston to get a warranty repair done in March. We have decided to make it a holiday and are looking at staying at the above site. We have been to the town many times but not the site. Can anyone who has been advise eg best place to pitch and is access ok ( our van is 7 mts long) also is it an easy walk in to the town.

Thanks

I live in Southport so haven't stayed on the site but can give local info! It's a 5 min walk to the end of the famous Lord Street where there are lots of eating  options. The very first shop you come to is Morrisons where the cafe is very good too. If you don't need a site you can wild camp by the beach at Weld Road where you will find space for a few vehicles but it can be wet sometimes. Further along the coast road heading north you will find an RSPB car park  where there are no restrictions and easy access for motorhomes. Southport is a lovely flat town with a great Promenade, the marine lake to wonder round and a couple of large easy access car parks with 3 hours free parking on 'Ocean Plaza'. Of course, on decent Sunnybank holidays - stay at home or be prepared for it to be very very busy.
