Caravan storage Bolton

This is more cautionary story for all the members with caravans or motorhomes stored at Cove Caravan Storage in Little Lever.

After getting my caravan stolen last year from my friends private driveway in Oldham, I made the decision to store it when not in use at a storage facility. I had been one of the few lucky people who actually managed to recover my van thanks to a fantastic tracker and the assistance of North Wales police.

So I started my search and ended up at the Cove facility as more local ones had no capacity.

It is a no frills site but the owners seemed to be nice enough and they said that there was CCTV and that they had had no issues.

My van is a 2008 continental TEC Travel King 510, nothing special, I had bought it secondhand and endeavour to keep it clean and tidy. It was surrounded by much nicer vans on the site and you couldn't see it from the front gate but this is the strange bit - out of all the vans on the site thieves chose to smash in through the back window and ransacked my van stealing a couple of fastened in TV;s and a haul of secondhand toiletries. This after the owners suggesting a change to that spot. Nothing was seen on CCTV.

It was at this stage I realised the facility was far from secure after paying nearly £600 for a replacement window!

So if you have a caravan or motorhome stored at this facility I would strongly suggest you consider just how secure your vehicle is

Hi

Mollysmummy

Yes I agree with you on that, at the time I didn’t know that the stream ran past both sites and so can obviously be used. However, that doesn’t detract from the fact that only my Caravan was targeted and only after this particular space became available, we only moved it as the previous space waterlogged in heavy rain. It’s not the value of the things taken that annoys me it’s the cost of replacing the window, there are many more caravans on the facility and so I hope my cautionary note gets people thinking how secure is that secure facility. I’ve moved down the road to ah gold standard site now.

I store my caravan on a COSSOA secure site at Leigh, this site has just expanded and may have some vacant slots. High fence with razor wire, cctv and night security guard. Fingerprint recognition has just been added to activate the secondary gate locks.
