Tessa Jowell died this morning after a prolonged and typically brave battle against brain cancer. One of the few politicians to emerge with credit from the end of the last Labour government, her greatest achievement and perhaps her lasting legacy will be the awarding of the 2017 Olympics to London. Consistently thoughtful, forthright and honest in her views, she is a sad loss to the public scene. The country needs more politicians of her ilk.

Yes RIP. A very 'sensible' lady. The BBC have the  speech she made to the House of Lords in January in their obituary, on cancer care, for which she got a minutes ovation - extremely rare. Basically she talked about living with cancer rather than dying from cancer. Thoughts are with her family. Her legacy bringing the 2012 😉 London Olympics will probably be what she's best remembered for.

She had an interesting life, took on challenges and gave back a lot, a sad loss.

Yet  another  of  those  brave people,  who,  while  undergoing  severe treatments  for  a  catastrophic  illness,  chose  not  to  go  into  her  shell .   She  chose,  instead,  to  continue  to  support  very  publicly  her  own  ideals  in  the  hope  they  will  gain  even  more  support.

R.I.P. Brave  Lady.

embarassed embarassed I completely forgot to include her pioneering the Sure Start programme, my daughter won't forgive me 😔. But I suspect it will be the London Olympics. Listening to Harriet Harman on their early days in the house with a young family,  Tessa Jowell wouldn't sleep 2 nights a week to ensure she gave to her children as well as her work.
