One of my all time favourite artists.  I'm sorry to read of his Parkinson's diagnosis but glad that he's had the strength to make the decision to retire rather than plodding on like some old timers who are way past their prime.

Almost booked tickets for his NZ tour, but when I checked we were 24 hours adrift 😢. Feeling better about that bit now but saddened about his health.

We were going to book to see Neil Diamond for 2018, for OH 70th birthday, but the booking wouldn't go through.  Then Christmas intervened and we never did book.  I'm sad, now that the tour has been cancelled - and can only wish Neil all the very best.

We also nearly booked to see Don McLean - hope he's OK.

It's sad that all our music legends are ageing (along with all of us too!)

Have  to  agree  with  Jill  there,  few  things  worse  than  seeing  somebody  you  remember  as  being  fit  and  agile  reduced  by  illness / extreme  age  to  a  shadow  of  their  former  selves.  At  least  he  says  he  will  keep  writing  his  music  and  may  he  do  it  for  years  to  come.

Agree with you better to be able to decide when give up rather than being forced to give up when well past your best.
