American author Harper Lee has died at the age of 89. Perhaps no other writer has won such acclaim and so many admirers from one single book. To Kill A Mockingbird was a brilliantly written story and Go Set A Watchman, finally published last year was a worthy sequel. Too much to hope, I suppose, that there is a yet undiscovered third book?

Jill, if you haven't read Mockingbird recently, it's probably worth reading it again before starting Watchman. I wish I had, but I've just picked up a copy for 20p at our bowling club, so I'm going to do just that and then have another go at Watchman. Happy

It's many years since I read To Kill A Mocking Bird so thanks for that Moulesy.   I thought I'd take both of them in the caravan at the end of the month Fur Ball.  That way I can shut myself in and, with a kettle/wine glass within reach, I could spend all day reading.  Happy

What a fabulous impact her books made to people's lives! Thought provoking, enlightened, full of sadness, happiness, in fact every emotion is included but most of all they make very good reading which has had a profound impact in eliminating racial hatred in American society and spread multiculturalism across the world!

I too loved Mockingbird. First read it at school, for my English Lit. 'O' level, but have reread it again. We also saw it performed on stage at the Manchester Royal Exchange theatre. Strong stuff indeed.

Sorry I posted here but decided to remove it because I did not wnat to spoil things for those who have yet to read Watchman.

All I will say is Watchman is not what you might think.
