The  Staffordshire,  Lancashire,  Leicestershire  &  England  Test  Cricketer,  Ken  Higgs  has  died  at  the  age  of  79.

Only  started  playing  Cricket  seriously  in  his  late  teens    he  carried  on  playing  into  his  40's and  even  made  a  short  come-back  and  finally  retired at  49  ! He  did  a spell  as  a  Second  Eleven  Umpire  and   coached  in  at  least  two  counties  if  not  more

Very sad news. I seem to remember that very unique run up style of his with his big bum sticking out. Not sure about the dates, but didn't he share opening bowling duties with Fiery Fred for a time?

A greatly underrated cricketer.

RIP Ken Higgs
