Did anyone else watch ITV's biopic of Hillsborough campaigner Anne Williams over the last 4 nights?

Of course, the story of the Hillsborough tragedy is well known by now as is the perseverance of the campaigners and the injustices they suffered over the years.

I thought a difficult topic was handled very sensitively and Maxine Peake's portrayal of Anne was superb.

A welcome change to much of the rubbish served up by the main channels over Christmas and the New Year.

No sadly I couldn't bear to watch it. Listening to the bits I heard on the news over the years infuriated me. Whilst the whole thing needed to be examined there was so much of protecting 'my team' I would have been shouting at the TV and my blood pressure and stress levels sky high.

I'm delighted that because of this lady's persistence to get justice for her son the truth seems to have been uncovered. It shouldn't have taken this many years, this much in resources etc to get there. I'm delighted for her and the relatives of all the others now know the truth however harrowing, but disgusted that folk lied to cover themselves without apparently any self guilt......

May those affected by the loss and injury from this tragic situation begin to 'heal and move forward'.

I'm pleased that it's been dramatised sympathetically and that it may have brought it to a wider audience but I don't think I'll ever feel strong enough to watch it.

It was fantastic .... though obviously the subject matter wasn't!

@ Bakers2 .. I was shouting at the screen re the lies & cover ups .... Duckenfield should have been sacked before he had the chance to draw his ££££££££££££££££££ pension pot!

I didn't realise this was on so will watch it on catch up.

It nearly struck close to home. My best mate from our wedding and his brother were at the game and my mate was in the stands on the side of the pitch and his brother in the Leppings Lane end. He was horrified watching it all unfold and obviously didn't know where his brother was. Fortunately his brother was one of those pulled up into the seating area above the crush but the impact of it all left a mental scar on him for the rest of his life. My mate had a bad bout of, I suppose, PTSD himself and I'm sure there were many others who were affected by what they saw and the resultant slur made by right wing politicians and their lapdog newspapers.

I was away on holiday in Cyprus at the time and didn't even know about the catastrophe until we landed back in the UK.

All in all a shameful stain on South Yorkshire police, The Sun newspaper in particular, Brian Clough who blamed the Liverpool supporters without knowing any of the facts and some of Thatchers mob who were quick to jump on the bandwagon.

More shameful is the resultant delays and obfuscation that halted justice being done and more importantly those accused having their names cleared of wrong doing. I'll be trying to watch the programmes but may not have the stomach for it.

The Real Anne: Unfinished Business is on tonight .... same time as through the week

An excellent way to put the "drama" into perspective. One thing which did surprise me was the genuine emotion shown by Andy Burnham, rare in a politician.

And particularly moving was Anne's daughter's statement about Duckenfield "he made a mistake, he was only human - but it was the cover up" which then and, still now,  stinks!

We have to live with South Yorkshire Police on a daily basis. Latest revelations……….they failed to record the ethnicity of all those committing the sexual abuse of minors in Rotherham throughout the decades it was going on!

I have visited Hillsborough only once since the tragedy. We had seats in the Leppings Lane end, it was eerie, not nice at all. Not somewhere we will go again.
