Didn't watch it this year as it clashed with the quali for the Monaco GP on Channel Four, then went straight to Scandi drama we have been watching on BBC4.

Seems it was another humiliating night for the UK? What is the problem? Are our songs just not up to muster, are they too modern or commercial. I am not really in a position to judge but it seems we get it wrong every year. When listening to our entry I can't say that it is a song I would download. I wonder if it would be less embarrassing if, rather than getting a bye into the main competition, our song had to go through the heats as most other countries have to? You could well understand why no well know British singer or Group would want to enter the competitionsurprised

Yes David.... it didn't go well!!  😃😃

Mind you, my six juniors (government Covid restricts us to six at present) sang better in church this morning than any of them at Eurovision!!

Unbelievable winning entry, the most contrived, ‘wooden’ rock band you’ve every seen.  I can’t help thinking they’re just having a laugh! Most of the voting is completely predictable and nothing to do with songs. The most bizarre comedy act generally gets to win these days.

Have to admit I'm speaking from ignorance here, not having watched this annual farce for some years now, but it seems to me that the problem is nothing to do with the music whatsoever. We (the UK) are simply held in, shall we be charitable and say, "low regard" by most of our continental "friends".  frown

I could see a fellow vanner watching it on their large TV but we opted for The Guernsey Potato Peel Pie Society thingy...which completely infuriated me too as it wasn't filmed on Guernsey and didn't even look like it..so I don't know which was worse but I gave up on Eurovision many years ago!

Our family is an Anything But Eurovision viewing, Why do we participate? Why do we pay a substantial part of it ? Can we opt out next year and not pay as we are out of europe!

We may not be in the EU but we are still in Europe and that ain't going to change anytime soon unless you can pull up the anchor!!! Eurovision also started in 1956 so long before the EU as we know it today and is an association of national broadcasters. Obviously we live in a different world now with the likes of Sky and Netflix I don't suppose it would exist if someone suggested it today.

Simple answer to That , Robsail  __  may I suggest you propose it takes place in Belarus ~~ and that should save us a few quid/Euro/Shekels as well as freeing up an occasional tele channel or six laughing

We haven't watched Eurovison for years, but as we were away and it had been somewhat hyped, we thought we would see what we had been missing. We lasted three songs before switching off. Never ever again.

I think it does a disservice to music in general and would happily see it end!
