News presenters using their hands

We have noticed more and more that young, mostly young women, news presenters constantly using their hands in an exaggerated way to make points whilst they are speaking. It is obviously the way they are being trained, as the seasoned presenters and news readers don’t do this. Is it only us that find this extremely irritating?

I suppose this is on par with the 'nodding dog' syndrome that many, on street, reporters use whilst being cued in to the live debate (news item) by their directors.

I think that is demonstrating understanding of what the interviewee is saying  rather than responding to a director. Don’t we all use facial gestures when someone is telling us a story?
