Strictly Who?

Apart from a female news presenter, a very brave young lady who was the victim of an acid attack and someone I kind of recognise from a long time ago - the new lineup of this years' Strictly contestants doesn't exactly seem to be terribly exciting or indeed contain many celebrities I've heard of. It must be an 'age' thing, but I'm willing to bet as you walk past caravans on site on a Saturday evening, the majority of the occupants will be tuned in! (Not that I'm a nosey-Parker!) 😉😀

Congratulations to all the finalists and to the Beeb for providing an excellent entertainment program.

Stacey was massively popular on social media and would have won even if she'd fallen over, with Joe coming second. Faye and Ashley probably paid for having "previous" (particularly Ashley) but were fantastic to watch and credit to them for their magnanimous attitude.

Well done to all 😀

Strictly is an entertainment programme based on dancing.  Having the public decide on a winner has little to do with dancing ability.  There were four good finalists but the result was decided by the viewers on personality, as  well as pure dancing skill.  Faye and Ashley were absolutely superb dancers, closely followed by Stacey and Joe .-------  Well done Stacey,  the. viewers thought you deserved to receive the Trophy.

Exactly what I thought if it was a purely dance competition ashley would have walked it with faye a close second. I personally thought stacey was the worst of the final four but obviously the most popular

It was all over social media about Ashley as a previous judge and an ex dancer, Faye Tozier was an ex dancer with steps and finally Joe leaked that voters outside of the UK could vote via a loophole, that leaves Stacy the obvious winner. Anyway well done to all that competed

Its a difficult proposition for the BBC viz a viz dancers with some experienced and those with none. This would be particularly the case in the early stages in the competition where you need someone to shine a bit otherwise it just looks like a amateur show. The audience at home will love the underdog to pull through which is what happened in the end. The two winners made a far longer journey than those that already had professional dancing experience. So I suppose in every series you will have those that shine from the start, those that don't but improve through the series and those that are more or less hopeless from the start in dancing terms but not necessarily in entertainment value!

I've had difficulty with the last few sessions of Strictly this time.  In my book, Ashley was clearly the best dancer, but she didn't win.  The reason being either 1. People didn't think she was the best; 2. People didn't like her; 3. People didn't vote for her as they felt she somehow had an unfair advantage because of her previous dancing experience.  I can certainy accept 1. as the reason.  However, although I'm completely guessing, when I have spoken to various people most have said that folk thought she had an unfair advantage.... i.e. 3, and this effected the final result.  In my book, the person who wins should be the best irrespective of anything else, unless they have some sort of built in handicap!

I think the BBC ought to make it clear what folk should be voting for i.e. the best dancer, irrespective of other things, otherwise this actually put the person in question  at a disadvantage.  Alternatively, the beeb should select contestants from a level starting field.

I actually felt quite sorry for Ashley. What else could she have done!
