The Promise

For those of you that enjoy foreign language drama there is a new series called The Promise on BBC4 on Saturday evenings. Its made by the same people that created Spiral the gritty French police series set in Paris. The Promise is quite different as its set in the Landes Region of France. The story is about child kidnap and murder set over a twenty year period. Pierre Castaing is the original detective but he dies before everything is solved. Twenty years later his daughter, now also a detective, tries to solve the mystery of the disappearances plus new ones that have happened since. Obviously all in French but seemingly spoken slower than usual so a bit easier to follow if you want to practise your French listening skills, subtitles for those that don't.
