The South (still Beautiful!)

We went to see The South, the latest incarnation of the 90's group Beautiful South last night. And what a show they put on! Almost 2 hours of non stop hits and some new songs as well. I saw the original line up with Paul Heaton many times years ago and, although there's now only 1 member of the group left, they still put on a great performance. If you're a fan it's well worth going  to see them if they visit your area. smile

It seems to be a bit of a niche thread though, micky, just present and past, like me, Humbersiders! smile

(Is this the right time to mention a certain rugby result though? wink)

Now defined as Yorkshire and Humber! Grown a bit, largest city now is Leeds. What next? Return & independence for what was 'Old Yorkshire' which included Redcar, Cleveland and Middlesborough. Who knows?wink May be a good idea?

I know-the two jags idea of a form of self rule has been binned once, there is no majority desire for it. Old Yorkshire it is not, Yorkshire is forward thinking not backward looking👍🏻😊.

Err not here! wink

Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire, North Lincs and NE Lincs make up the old Humberside.    Hull is a unitary authority (worse luck) with a very small boundary which excludes any affluent suburbs.

Most people here think Leeds isn’t anything to do with us as we’re not included in a Northern Powerhouse - just the forgotten end of the M62. frown

Ah, let's just go back into Northumberland or Danelaw. wink When does this tribalism stop?

When we were first married we lived in a flat just off Beverly Road. Used to go to a folk club upstairs at the pub on the corner with Cottingham Road - is it the Haworth Arms? Might not still be there I suppose!

Yes it’s the Haworth Arms - still has groups using upstairs (mainly students)
