Electric and hybrid car charging on club sites

I was informed this year by a site Marshall at the Centenary club site that if I wished to charge up my Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV on a club site it would cost £9 per day.

since I only get 26 miles from a full charge I thought this was excessive .

I wrote to the club pointing out that we pay for up to 16A electricity in the pitch fee and as long as we don’t exceed this there should be no further charge. At most my charger uses 10A and only charges for 4 hours.

What does anyone else think about this?

Today this rolled up next to me.

Air-conditioning running all day and night

2 huge dogs

Was this punishment for having an EV and complaining about the £9 a day charging fee

Evening

Having an american rv I can assure you, they use no more power than your average modern caravan. My rv has 300watts of solar power along with 4 golf cart batteries (leisure batteries) along with a 2kw inverter. I know a lot of rv'ers in this country and they have similar solar or run the silent inbuilt diesel generator. Don't think a large rv will use more power than you will. In this hot spell I've been running the aircon 24/7 at 18 degrees for 6 days off hookup, no ehu used.

What's 2 huge dogs got to do with anything?

Seen more and more of these beauties, yes they are beautiful but just too big for a caravan and motorhome club site or as they are called now campsite.

sorry my opinion

i don’t own an EV but was somewhat shocked when arriving on a site to see a £9 per day charge for those that do own one. Surely a deterrent for anyone wanting to be more environmentally friendly.  What the club should be doing is charging MH owners for taking  another vehicle. Hardly saving the planet!

We tend to mainly walk, or if available use public transport, rather than going out in the tow car as many caravaners do. Does that mean we get a discount.😉😂

Your RV/LV?are you just experimenting? To see if it works without an umbilical cord?

Which is more environmentally friendly, having a ICE car with you or an EV.

Also it could be said that it is more environmentally friendly going off site in a small car than taking the MH?

Not sure what you mean by experimenting. I meant RV as in American RV not LV.

But you've taken two vehicles, possibly travelling hundreds of miles.  In my opinion, charging an EV should be free and an additional charge for the second combustion engined vehicle.
