Get advise about safety. One of our sons married into a South African family and we learned about hi jacking, mugging, theft, robbery and so on from them. They kept a gun in their car. The younger ones are going back with teenage children next year and say it’s a wonderful country, but they are very worldly wise about security. 

And bear in mind that travelling in a hired motorhome is not the only way to go in far away countries.  There are alternatives.
