Water Shortage

Whilst we haven't got an actual hosepipe ban in our area at present we are being shown pictures on the TV of empty reservoirs in Derbyshire. I'm very surprised, therefore, to see our next door neighbour pressure washing his patio. He's been at it now for over two hours.

It takes all sorts.😣

It was pretty clear to most of us weeks ago that there was going to be a water issue this summer even if it didn’t reach the stage of a hosepipe ban.

Our neighbours are similar; lovely friendly couple, but insist on watering their front lawn often and at length. It's now looking emerald green compared to our brown desert! surprised

What did he say when you mentioned it to him?

Unfortunately they don't like criticism from any quarter and don't even like friendly comments so I've kept quiet. As Tinwheeler says, it takes all sorts.

Well we are in Crise here for water, everywhere brown and dusty no hosepipes here just glad we still have some water in the water butts, no filling of swimming pools or washing cars and these restrictions could be with us until 1st November, even some river activities could be cancelled and just into main holiday season.

As my late stepfather used to say grass will regrow even when it looks dead, amazing how some weeds and wildflowers survive.

Raining beautifully here and for the last few days. No doubt the water companies in the South are eyeing up which valley to drown next. Cofiwch Tryweryn.

Another neighbour close to us has been washing his spotlessly clean car with a hosepipe today. He's not long been retired and I think he is bored. He frequently gets his MH out and washes that then puts it back again. He rarely goes away in it. He's another one that thinks rules are for other people.
