"Arise, Sir Geoffrey"!

A long overdue honour for one of the country's greatest cricketers - from the era when cricketers were sportsmen first and "celebrities" second.

Controversial, it's bound to be, but for me, "Congratulations Sir Geoffrey Boycott" - one of Theresa May's better decisions! wink

Sorry, M but I totally disagree. Then again I think the Honours system is a shambles, full of cronyism, pay back for favours done and too easily brought into disrepute.

As for Boycott. Someone should give him a slap, preferably a woman!

I suppose I’m a bit in two minds, given the court ruling. There’s no denying though, he was a fantastic cricketer, and love him or loathe him, he makes for very good listening. Opinionated? Yes. Boring? No.

We normal mortals don’t get honours for doing our daily jobs no matter how well we do them.  All these honours for so called personalities, sportsmen/women, politicians and civil servants need to be stopped in favour of ordinary people who contribute so much to our society doing what they do often without reward

Well said.

These people should be setting examples, not appearing in Tabloids for all the wrong reasons, or worse still, the Court system.

I have no time for ‘professional’ Yorkshiremen, waxing lyrical of their love of the white rose county, their life within the bosom of Yorkshire folk, then they move darn sarf as soon as they fill their pockets with brass😤😤
