G's legs gave out in the last kms and so was beaten by Primoz by 40 seconds on the day, and so finished second on the stage and 14 secs adrift overall. So near but yet so far!!😥 However he has proved that he still has it at 37 and has beaten a lot of younger well known, top notch riders.

A great final stage for the Brits, even though GT came second overall, with Mark Cavendish winning it, with the help of GT on the leadout. He becomes the oldest rider at 38 to win a stage of the Giro, and has won a stage each time he has raced in the event.

Fabulous end to the race, another iconic “Cav” moment, and a fellow Olympian mate helping out again. Shades of when Brad led him onto the Champs Elysees in the TdeF all those years ago. I really felt for Thomas, he came so close, but Rogliz has had his own bad luck as well. Dauphine next,m then the TdeF……
