Thanks, RK, I’m very tempted.
I’ve seen some events in the Commonwealth Games, when they were held in Manchester a while back, but the Olympics would certainly be something very special.

We've managed to get tickets for the Olympic Games in Paris and wondered if anyone had already managed to book a campervan site.  The ones I have contacted are already full for next summer.  Thanks in advance.

We’ve also got tickets for the Paris Olympics but having trouble trying to secure a site. We’d love to tow the van and then go off exploring after the Olympics…

Has anyone had any success in booking a campsite for the Paris Olympics?  If so, then where please?  We had our name down in advance with a group of sites, pre-release of 2024 bookings, only to be told last week that there was no availability and all the pitches had gone within an hour of bookings opening.

I can see the problem for caravanners who need proper campsites and are finding them  fully booked, but motorhomers can stay on Aires well away from Paris and go into tne city by train. For example a 100 mile journey from Vendome to central  Paris  only takes 45 minutes - and unlike Britain they have lots of other high speed lines.

In fact here’s a map of their high speed TGV rail lines so stop anywhere near one of the stations marked and whizz into Paris on a fast train. And say to yourself Is GB lagging behind a bit?

Thanks for your reply.  You make a fair point about the superb TGV service but we have tickets for three consecutive days, one of them an evening session, so would rather be closer than a TGV ride.  We were hoping to use a site closer to one of the RER commuter lines.  We will keep searching but any suggestions welcomed.

Have you contacted the Club to see if they have any sites that would suit? I am not sure if they have been released yet and perhaps the campsites involved have blanked out the time around the Olympics might it might just we worth a try?

We managed to see the rowing at the Barcelona Olympics in 1992 but couldn't get tickets in advance and only discovered by accident that there was free access to parts of the Banyoles lakes on the day of the races. By contrast the London Olympics in 2012 seemed much better organised and we were able to get tickets for the same event on what was later dubbed "Super Saturday" but that may have been because we were UK residents? It's certainly something to be experienced  once in a lifetime and more if you are lucky enoughsmile

Hope you find somewhere to stay.
