Looking forward to the start of the Women's Six Nations 2023 rugby tournament tomorrow. So much to celebrate in women’s sport lately. Like the men’s game there is a position for every body shape, size and athletic ability and aptitude to shine in this inclusive sport and have they, the English women, shone over the last few years. Hopefully the Red Roses will rise to the occasion once more tomorrow! If you’ve never watched the like before, have a look live on the TV, the skill and commitment will surprise many!

I missed the Wales/Ireland game but did see most of the England/Scotland match. Both were rather one-sided affairs, but some great tried scored, and in the latter one some excellent rugby played. Next week's Scotland/Wales match should give a good indication of how much each side has come on over the last 12 months.

A massive congratulations must go out to Sarah Hunter on her retirement game at the Newcastle ground. The crowds really turned out to celebrate her career achievements. What a fabulous role model and what a stalwart of the Red Roses. A fabulous final game result too!

The under 20 England ladies also shone in the later fixture against Scotland tonight at the same venue. The future looks health and Sarah has surely paved the way for these young girls!

Another interesting weekend in this competition. Looks like it will come down to the final week’s encounter between France and England in a couple of weeks time if my predictions come to fruition.
Fabulous to see every body shape, every size, every one represented. All skilful, valued and playing an important team role. Fabulous.

Some excellent rugby played over the weekend by the two premier teams in the competition, both against teams that have themselves improved substantially.

I wonder in how many high class matches 9 tries have been scored by 9 different players from the same side?

Well what a final game. England seemed to have it all sown up after the first half but then the French came back. Luckily the Red Roses hung on! Very nearly 60k attended this game. Yesterday Leicester Tigers Ladies were pipped by Cheltenham Ladies in an equally thrilling game at the same venue.
