Hi Everyone,

As you know Ash who originally set up this discussion has left RSBP to pursue his Master’s Degree.  I'd like to introduce myself - I'm Tania and I'll be providing the Club Together pages with an official RSPB presence.

I'll be looking to update you all with interesting conservation and wildlife stories and will be looking to answer any questions that you may have related to our work, our partnership with the Caravan and Motorhome Club or anything wildlife/nature related.

Very much looking forward to engaging with you all! smile

I am an RSPB member. But when I probably joined I had parked the car in an RSPB ticketed car park and bought a ticket. We went into the shop/entrance reception and showed our CC card. Chap on reception gave us tickets and then proceeded to fill a form for us to display on the dashboard. When I said not to worry as we had already purchased a ticket he insisted on refunding me. I think that we later joined after spending time on the reserve.

Question for RSPB.

We have visited a couple of reserves where there is a car park charge but free for RSPB members, such as Titchwell. As RSPB accept CMC members into their reserves free of charge is the charge for any parking also free of charge?

Yes WN, just leave your CC card on the dashboard of the car.

See a whooper swan was shot with a shotgun close to RSPB Bempton Cliffs, disgraceful hope they get the person responsible

Ta, OP. Not bothered personally as we are members of both organisations. Just wondering for those club members who aren't.

The shooter is pure scum and what I would like to do to it is unprintable.

Done ours now, compared to the national chart of entries so far we've got more bluetits and long tailed tits than anything else, best spot was a frequent visitor, the GS Woodpecker.

Nice one Ro.  Most RSPB sites publish a weekly round up of whats going on or whats been seen on the site.  Might be an idea to publish snippets of those blogs on here

Hi there laughing

My name is Charlotte and I am very pleased to be your new RSPB representative on Club Together. Thank you to Ro for introducing me (and for getting me set up behind the scenes!). I intend to have the "Sticky" comment on this thread updated soon.

After browsing through the interesting posts and threads on Club Together, I'm finding many examples of the common interests of the CAMC and RSPB communities, which is fantastic to see. I'm really looking forward to sharing interesting wildlife and conservation stories with you all. In fact, I have one for you now...

... In the midst of our recent extreme weather, the RSPB were receiving reports from people all around the UK of strange and unfamiliar birds turning up on people's lawns. It seems the harsh effects of “The Beast from the East” and “Storm Emma” were driving desperate wild birds into peoples' gardens in search of food, water and shelter. As the temperatures plummeted, large numbers of hungry winter visitors such as winter thrushes, fieldfares and redwings were turning to the more urban areas to cling-on during this bitterly cold end to the season, when much of the wild food supply is already used-up. Up and down the country, people were meeting the needs of the birds, by putting out food and keeping fresh water ice-free.

It seems I'm not the only one relieved to see the signs of Spring this week!
