Today while walking the dog in the park I stopped to watch a squirrel collecting nuts from a large chestnut tree and I was fascinated at its methods, it would climb to the end of a branch sniff and examine the nuts and reject quite a few. Eventually it would pick a nut peel off the shell and climb down the tree and bury it a short distance away, then re-climb and repeat the whole process.

I guess they are looking for the ripest ones what do you think?
