The Red Squirrel

One of the most beautiful native animals in the UK is the Red Squirrel.  It is in great danger of extinction because of the increase in population of the "Foreign" grey squirrel.

The grey squirrel is an immigrant which arrived into this country and has gradually been taking over large areas of the country from the  indigenous population of Red Squirrels.

This is still continuing and unless something is done to stop the take over by those grey squirrels, they will wipe out the indigenous Red Squirrel entirely.  The indigenous squirrel has no resistance to the illnesses that the grey squirrel population carries.

What can be done to protect the indigenous population ??.
