I know many folks own and are interested in cycling, often with expensive bikes carried in or on touring outfits. We have expensive bikes, and like others, do our best to up the security as much as we can. This is a bit of technology well worth investing in if you want a bit more peace of mind…….

Discreetly hidden, audible alarm, and links to Apple’s Find my Phone system. Hope we never need it🤞

Does it only work with an iPhone Ttda? We don't bother with iPhones, using Motorollas instead.

Looks a decent bit of kit though.

Yes, at the moment it only uses Apples “Find My IPhone/IPad technology, and isn’t compatible with Android or Google technology. No idea if there are other similar bike security devices out there, there might be, looks a great bit of kit. OH got it for his best ebike, he’s a tad twitchy about having so much on the back of the MH, we have all sorts of security set up. 👍😁

This is not much use to me if it only works with Apple devices. I refuse to be limited, and controlled, by Apple technology.

Strange how developers get sucked into the Apple culture, forgetting that roughly half the smart phones in the UK are Android. Worldwide it is more like 75%.

Anyway, good locks have always worked for me in 36 years.

Sorry, I know that is rather negative and I am sure some will find this information useful. I just get wound up by the notion that there is Apple, Apple or Apple.

That’s ok folks, we just happen to like and use Apple products, so it’s a bit of kit that works well for us. We don’t update our IPhones very often, we aren’t sucked into the culture very much at all really, but just enjoy the ease and compatibility. Hopefully, there will be something similar that uses Android along soon, if it isn’t out there already😁

There are plenty of GPS bike tracking devices out there a quick google search will come up with a quite a lot.

From cycling weekly:

The best location for a GPS tracker is one where it won't be found. Some come with fixings designed to 'blend in' with the bike, they may look like a standard bike light or bottle cage attachment, which will work provided the thief isn't aware of the brand. They may come with tamperproof bolts to make their removal difficult. Others can be hidden inside the frame, such as in the seat tube

Thanks Corners👍 . We are happy with our gadget, as I say hopefully won’t need it.
Are you still getting the miles in, I always enjoyed reading about your rides and the photos. We are hoping to get away for a few days next month (🤞) get a bit of cycling in😁 I need somewhere traffic free to build up confidence on road bike. It’s a bit different to my other bike, more potential for wobbling and falling off🤣

yes thanks still going out but not much so far this year due to what I consider has been worse weather than in previous years. I would have been out in March a lot more. But next week looks very good. Mrs C now join in with her (specialized) ebike - she's not as fast on the level but her gears are better so she catches up going uphill!

Likewise we go on bike paths/trials as much as possible.

Actually found a flat front tyre this morning and I'm getting too old for changing inner tubes now (unless I have to) so Halfords did their magic as we live a few minutes drive away. Good service and did it there and then (I thought I'd have to leave it) They said there was quite a bit of glass shards in the tyre but I rode it home well enough last trip out a few weeks ago?

Agree Corners, not been long ride weather so far, even OH hasn’t been out that much. I have only ever had one puncture, hit a pothole, that sent a spoke clean through my tyre, luckily not far from home. OH is always experimenting with tyres, tubeless, slime, this that and the other. We do carry spares, I expect to get more punctures with road bike than my mountain bike though.
