Degrading Tyre Walls

Not good on such a new caravan.

It is worth checking the date code on the tyre, if they are significantly older than the caravan you may be able to claim for new tyres from the supplying dealer.

5 years is the normal timescale for tyre changing, if not sooner due to treadwear. In general terms most caravans do not cover anywhere near the mileage that would result in treadwear requiring replavement within the 5 year recommended degradation period.

Long exposure to sunlight could be  a cause? Is it stored outdoors with no tyre covers?

If in doubt complain-don’t back off. If you do ignore it that may then invalidate your insurance. Add to that the dealer won’t commit which speaks volumes that you have an issue. I believe you can approach the CAMC’s legal Dept for advice going forward as part of your membership. I’ve read some good comments re their help. Good luck👍🏻

In respone to Mike b I also have a Coachman Laser exel but on single wheels and at 2years 9 months the trye is showing steel cords on the sidewall.

On the tyre it states 8 ply but it also states 5 ply on tread and 2 ply on the sidewalls

The DOT is 39 20 so tyre built 39 week 2020, In 40 years I am disgusted in the poor quality tyres fitted or is this just a bad batch.

This should not be happening on a quality caravan.

After owning caravans for over 40 years I know how to look after tyres and fully understand if they require  changing  every 5 years

Coachman are refusing  to comment and not responded or ackowledged   emails just totally ignored it.

This my 3rd Coachman and worst one and still waiting since Sept 2023 for Coachman to agree who is to pay to replace the door as at the bottom it is bubling under the paint

Very anoyed when at the show on the Coachman stand I waas asked if i would be interested in a new van to which my reply was lets get the faults sorted on my present van first

Why are you pursuing Coachman? The dealer who sold you the caravan is responsible for any defects. Your contract of sale is with the dealer, not the manufacturer.

I was told at the show on the Coachman stand not a dealer stand to contact Matthew Yates Coachman Aftersales as my claim I submitted through the dealer had not been resolved for the  entrance door.

Coachman or Dometic cannot agree who is going to pay for the claim This was submitted end July 2023.still waiting.

My freind has had a claim on a Swift van for a new cracked sunroof Dec 23 all sorted new one fitted .

I had a claim with a 2012 Swift requiring a new rear panel all I did was send in pictures and the then Michael Jordan caravans sorted everything out.

Coachman need to up their game both myself and Mikeb`s van should not have tyre issues at their ages it just cheap tyres not up to the job.

Your example re Michael Jordan demonstrates what I said. It is the dealer’s responsibility, not the manufacturer’s.
