1.25 or 1.30 prior to Brexit (depending on which exact day you chose) and 1.15 now.......

8 to 12% as I said......

The rate as I type is 1.1528.......so that is the rate you would get using a half decent credit card (with no fees), for erither purchases or cash withdrawals.

Last September we were having 1.15 to the £, ate out less and after 3 weeks found we had spent about the same as the year before, we considered this country this year but decided against it due to the freedom that France offers, we just book a crossing and head for the weather and as yet not found a full site, as in this country there's a good chance if don't book ahead you will struggle as we found a few years ago, and if your in Brittany and weather turn's bad in half day of stress free driving you can be in the vendi, that's something you'll struggle in this country to do.

With sites and fuel on the Continent being less expensive than  here, and food the same or less, we are not too bothered.

If  necessary we will be SKI-ing.  They have both done well in the last few years, so our turn now to treat ourselves.

Having started the year with a new car and some new furniture, we are enjoying our spending spree!

Not intending to stay away from the near continent and certainly not on cost grounds as we have not the time left to wait for any possible improvements to come.

Back in 2010 the rate was around 1.10 and three years later 1.13, so the current level is hardly unprecedented. Brexit is just a useful peg upon which to hang things.
