What’s the point of the Club if sites are full?

I left the Club last year because we mainly take our motorhome to Europe but I was happy to rejoin as we thought a week away in the UK might be good whilst we await new travel rules. So, having decided on a nice area in the South East and found a Club site we fancied  - it is totally booked out in June. Fortunately there are plenty of commercial sites with lots of availability in the same area and in many ways I would prefer them to a Club site.

I suppose you could say that the Club is successful by having their sites sold out, but - a “touring Club”?! Seems to me that it is a highly specialised Club catering for a few people who want a very specific experience far removed from normal camping.

Corners wrote "Again compared to the whole club membership and/or users of sites what is the number who post on here or write in to the magazine? Is it a true representative sample of the membership?"

Why should it not be taken as representative. Such a procedure is often used generally to provide the figures we see in the media, immigration being one of them.

Anyway, to follow on from my earlier post, I have as predicted received a response to my E Mail addressed to Nick Lomas. It was from the "Email Support Team" couched in the anticipated vague terms which failed to address the points raised. No surprise there.

There are cancellations happening all the time as is demonstrated on the CL Booking Site  on FB, and this has been happening for weeks, so doesn't look to be because of the change in the possibility of overseas travel. I imagine that the same thing is happening to CC site bookings,  it's just the nature of some ( many? few?) members, and there is no way you, I or anyone else on here will know the reasons or actual numbers.

To return to the subject…

You're right that we'll never know, Nellie, but I think it's quite logical to expect more cancellations this year as restrictions on travel are eased. It's not all negative, though, as it gives others the chance to grab dates as the OP did. 👍🏻
