I have now tried logging in using Chrome, Firefox and IE11 and no sign of a pop-up in Windows 10. I agree with Brue that is it quite difficult to see the cross to close it on say the iPad mini especially when the keyboard is on screen as well.

When I hit the 'join' button it immediately told me I was already a member and said I should log in but I am already logged in!
Do you think the staff are having a competition to see who can think up the most infuriating modification to forum members?
Wonder when the competition closes and what the winner gets.๐

Just had it for the first time this morning within 3 or so minutes of browsing whilst logged in on my android phone. Yes it's semi transparent. No keypad on the screen couldn't see X but as I now know it's there I turned to landscape, still couldn't see. Scrolled over and yes it was there but not easy to see.
Yes I think Cyberyacht may have hit the nail on head with his supposition ๐. Maybe as ?Forest says competition for staff - who knows? Does anyone care?
Edit it popped up quite regularly during a ?half hour? visit to the forum last evening around the time of my posts on this thread.

Me too, using iPad. I am logged in as a paid up member. Perhaps some IT guru working for the Club would explain the need for existing members to be bombarded by this. It surely is not beyond the wit of man to programme the pop up ONLY to appear if the user is not a member or not signed in.
Frankly I am doubtful if such a device would encourage a non-member to join anyway. You should not market things by irritating people of any sort.
Would someone at East Grinstead please respond please?

There seems to be a general problem this morning with the slowness of the site, I've been unable to see if posts have gone through and the edit button is throwing up an error message.
Is the pop up appearing on the booking/site pages as this would be very off putting to anyone trying to use the web site.
