"Locked" threads

I notice that the "Not inclusive" thread has been locked by Jill this morning. And yet within minutes a member has been able to add a post. Out of curiosity I tried but could not add a comment. It's not the first time I've seen this. So how is it possible that some members seem to be able to circumvent the locking of a post. And why, other than wanting to stick two metaphorical fingers up at the moderators? undecided

I wish I'd never brought the subject up now! frown

I didn't intend for this to be a discussion about how, why or when moderators act the way they do.  It was about one of the curious practical idiosyncrasies of the site.

Sorry Moulesy I was really trying to find out whether 'air con' is still taboo

In my opinion moderators are a tad too hasty to lock threads.

Moderator comment:

Peedee, this thread was opened by Moulesy to highligt a fault.  Please don't turn it into a discussion on moderation.  You know the rules.  If you have a problem with the actions of a moderator, please take it up with the CM and not on the open forum.

Thank You.

Perhaps it should have been more specifically titled then, e.g. "Locked Thread Faults"

It’s quite clear if you read the OP, PD. No hint of querying moderation was made.

Shall we just do as Jill asked?

The fault is as said the Forum software and the users browser dependent upon when refreshed. It is quite possible to post again in that locked thread which unfortunately makes a mockery of the action.

I hope it gets sorted.

Being able to post into a locked thread appears at times to be down to how you actually get into the thread. Accessing via the date and time of the last post somehow made the thread active again, although this isn't always the case. I wonder if it is down to the device being used as well, as on iPad, I often come across supposedly locked threads that still show a compose a reply box.
