Making a website link live

Tried to find guidance on this with no luck. I can insert the link into my post, using copy and paste, but when I press reply, sometimes the link is live, other times it isn't. I am using an iPad with Safari, anyone got any tips on how to make this work more successfully?

Thank you. I am aiming to add to CL reviews, but copying reviews I have done elsewhere.

I only ever fill in the URL addy. I prefer that as it shows to others where the link is aimed

Not so. There is no link box when typing a review! So that idea won't work sadly. Parts of this website really are a frustrating load of sphericals to put it mildly!

I just assumed there would be a link box on review posting section. How wrong I was! But at least we are getting some answers as to why so few reviews are completed......you have to undertake Krypton Factor in terms of putting anything on, such as photos or website links! Shall I be bothering any time soon! Not on here, I will spread the word elsewhere!

My sincere apologies to CL owners.

The system used to be a faff but I’ve noticed it seems to have changed lately.

If you paste the link and then hit the return key, it seems to go live.

If, however, you paste the link and then go straight to Reply, it doesn’t go live.

It is isnt it! Yorkshire Tourist Board is really good, its no wonder thousands of folks are visiting.

Just tried the press return method in a review, doesnt work, still wont become live, so I can't link in review from elsewhere. ho hum.....

The only problem with this method is that the link takes you away from the Club website and you have to remember to use the back button if you wish to return. More often than not I usually close such a link down by mistake which I find annoying as I then have to log in again. This is the reason why you should follow the prescribed method by using the web link symbol in the menu above the posting pane and answer yes to it opening in a new web page.

BTW I have just had a look, via edit at TW's link he posted. If you highlight it and hit the web link button it does allow you to ask for it to open in a new window.

On your other point about the web link menu not being available when submitting a review. This could well be that the powers that be don't won't links? However I think it a perfect legitimate question to ask of the CM to establish whether it's on purpose or just an omission.
