Try Adrian Flux - they are brokers and can offer a wide range of quotes.

Posted on 01/05/2023 01:47 by ClubMemberEDA855B6F3Hi Dianne and Peter, we are travelling over soon to do the same thing. What reasons did they give for not insuring you. Cheers John Whitford

John, Welcome to UK. I hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed North Island.
But you ask why Kiwis might find it difficult to get motor insurance here, so here are some reasons.
Motor insurance was never compulsory in NZ so a British insurance company may have no knowledge of previous record of claims. Nor do they know of previous accidents, speeding cases and so on, and they don’t know the visiting driver’s experience of driving a big vehicle in busy traffic.
In short they are trying to assess risk when they don’t know the facts. So they either say No - or they charge a lot. But try the specialist insurance brokers who have already been mentioned.
Good luck.

Posted on 21/04/2023 10:37 by eurortravellerHi Dianne and Peter, There are lots of other suggestions if you simply Google it. One that caught my eye was a company called Marshmallow.com.

I'd never heard of this company until reading of a complaint against them which was taken up by a newspaper.
They did seem like a specialist company as that tale was about a Ukrainian living here as a result of the war and trying to support himself and family by being a food delivery man.
Marshmallow didn't come out of the tale smelling of roses but did at least partially redeem themselves. Caveat Emptor.

Americans in the same boat. We used Sterling last year at a jaw-dropping rate but it’s all we could find. Now we’re up for renewal and found a much more reasonable quote from Keith Michaels (0208 329 1150.) I’m still calling around. I don’t understand why non-residents/non UK license holders should be considered such high risk. Keith Michaels is less than half what Sterling wants. Comfort was a hard NO.
