We wont be going away again now till the spring so as newbie caravanners what do we need to do to safely store our van over the winter months?

so far i have emptied out all the cupbords and left doors open includng the fridge and bathroom door,

toilet has been drained down

made sure the vents are not covered

all the blinds have been put down

left the bed with just a dust sheet over it

We live close to two large oak trees so have ordered a cover

What have we missed , or need to peridoically do ?

Our van is on farm storage and I drove the 10 miles today to put it to bed for the winter as it was a lovely, warm, sunny, calm day. Just what you want when fighting a 7.20m caravan cover on your own.

Van drained down after last trip so just removed battery and put van on axle stands and then the bag over the top....which was snug and dry 10 miles back in our garage!!!! Off to docs for senility test!!

That could be just as awkward, TW, if space is tight at the storage area, although of course it need only be done once.

Yes is is tight but not impossible and although the wheels will be off of the ground, the locks will still need to be in place in order to satisfy the insurance requirements....More use is the real answer and that is the one we are working on!  We have leg locks on each corner, another 2 Nemesis wheel locks on the other side and a hitch lock - Machine gun turret arrives next week!  ;-)

Are you going for a non-UK make?  Our journey with LV's has not all be plain sailing.  The AutoTrail MH we had prior to the current Carthago was a mobile swimming pool, and I can't think of much of it that was actually trouble free.  I hope you get a good van next.

A Hobby Excellent is with a dealer awaiting various extras I specified but since it was the demo at the NEC they are retro fits. Mover, stabiliser system, bike rack and microwave. A factory order was not guaranteed  to be ready for our April departure. This will probably be the last and we sincerely hope better than our present van.
